Betty Jean Hamrick Brooks, age 87, of Spindale, widow of the Rev. Nelson Brooks went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday February 5, 2017 while being cared for at Hospice House in Forest City, She was a native of Rutherford County and the daughter of the late Carl and Marcelle Ball Hamrick and was a member of Gilkey Baptist Church. Left to cherish her memory are her sons Benny Michael Brooks and his wife Rita of Gilkey; Charlie Don Brooks and his wife Debbie of Spindale; a brother Danny Hamrick of Bostic; grandchildren Lori Barnes, Amy Burch, Charlie Brooks II and Patsy Brock; great grandchildren, Austin and Bret Barnes, Kanaan, Kaitlyn and Josie Brock, Troy and Sara Brooks, Clay and Cole Burch and great- great grandchild Silas Barnes. A service of celebration will be held at Gilkey Baptist Church on Wednesday February 8 at 4 PM with the Rev. Charlie Brooks and Rev. Danny Hamrick officiating. Burial will be in the Eternal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 3-4 PM Wednesday prior to the service at Gilkey Baptist Church.
