Charlie Mathis

Charlie Lumard Mathis, 65, of Spindale, died December 15. A native of Cleveland County, he was a son of the late William Odus and Nellie Lorene Willis Mathis. He was a retired truck driver and a member of Plain View Baptist Church. He is survived by two daughters, Laura Dianne Baxley and husband Ron, Janice Lynn Conner and husband Johnny of Kings Mountain, NC; one son, Michael Shane Mathis and wife Lanette of Kings Mountain; two brothers, Jimmy Clinton Mathis of Boiling Springs and Tommy Douglas Mathis of Polkville; one sister Mildred Lorene Turner of Ellenboro; four grandchildren, Jennifer Baxley, Amber Baxley, Promise Conner, and Matthew Conner; five step children, Renee Dill, Darlene Cummings, Tommy Dill, Marshall Dill, and Danny Upton. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 17 at 12 PM at Crowe’s Chapel in Rutherfordton with Rev. Marshall Dill and Rev. Robert Toney officiating. Burial will follow in Plain View Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
