Clark Wilkerson, Sr.

Clark R. Wilkerson, Sr., born June 3, 1921, departed this life Wednesday April 23, 2014 at NC State Veterans Home in Black Mountain, NC. He was the son of the late Julie Logan Wilkerson and Samuel Briscoe Wilkerson of Lake Lure, NC. To this union was born 6 sisters and and 2 brothers. Deceased siblings are Maggie, Dovie, Nannie, Nathaniel and Clinton. Surviving are sisters Violet Parrish, Ossie Payne and Volena Littlejohn. Clark was a veteran of WW II, a farmer by profession and a talented carpenter. During the early years of what was known as “Fairfield” he assisted in constructing many homes in the area. In his leisure time he loved to fish and hunt with his friends. Clark was known by his big smile, big laugh and big heart. He could be very entertaining and loved recalling “humorous times” with his friends. Clark came to Christ at an early age. He was a devoted and active member of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church of Lake Lure, NC where he served as deacon and in other offices throughout the years. Clark loved God and was a person of great faith. Clark was devoted to his family – wife Zetta Littlejohn Wilkerson of 74 yrs (deceased) ; his five children- Clark Wilkerson, Jr. (Sandra), Zelma W. Young (Larry), (Faye W. Thompson – deceased), Marvin C. Wilkerson (Diana) and Dexter B. Wilkerson (Cheryl); 11 grandchildren, (Pamela Wilkerson-deceased) and 13 great grandchildren. He also leaves a host of beloved nieces and nephews with whom he shared many cherished moments. He was loved by many and will be missed by all.
