Clint Spearman

Retired Senior Master Sergeant William Clinton (Clint) Spearman age 65 of Pleasant Street passed away Wednesday March 28, 2012 at Hospice House of Rutherford County following a brief illness. He was born December 31, 1946 in Greenville, SC to Curtis Spearman and the late Margaret Elizabeth Wall Spearman. In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by his first wife Patricia Clark Spearman. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jennifer Tomblin Spearman, daughter Lisa Renee Millard and husband Chuck, daughter Sonya Leah Kelly and husband Sean, stepson Josh Perry and wife Corie, stepson Aaron Perry and wife Haley, seven grandchildren who loved “Papa” dearly – Nicole Millard, Meghan Millard, Garrett Kelly, Landon Kelly, Blaine Kelly, Isla Perry and Owen Perry; brother Richard Spearman and wife Nan, father Curtis Spearman and stepmother Margaret Spearman. Clint started his career in the U.S. Air Force on May 22, 1967, which spanned 23 yrs. and served in many countries. He was an American Hero serving in the Vietnam War leaving the military as a Senior Master Sergeant. Following his military service he worked as the finance officer for the Isothermal Planning and Development Commission for 20 years. Clint was a dedicated Christian man. He loved his Lord first – while overseas he helped to organize a new Baptist Church in the Azores and while in Germany he served as the treasurer of the European Baptist Convention. He was a very active member of Spencer Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, choir member and was active in a number of church committees. In addition to his many church activities he was treasurer for Relay for Life and a Hospice Volunteer ministering to World War Two Veterans. A celebration of life will be held Sunday April 1, 2012 at Spencer Baptist Church at 3:00 PM. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Family Life Center. Burial will take place 10:30 AM Monday April 2, 2012 at Southern Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors provided by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. The Revs. Richard Spearman, Billy Vaughn and Bruce Caldwell will be officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Spencer Baptist Church General Fund 187 North Oak Street Spindale NC 28160 or to your local Relay For Life. Crowe’s Mortuary is assisting the Spearman Family.
