Crayton Bland

Crayton Osborn Bland, 90, of Spindale, died Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at Mission Hospital in Asheville. A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late J.O. and Lillie Mae Watson Bland. He was a US Army veteran of WWII, a retired loom fixer and a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church. Crayton is survived by his son Stanley Bland and wife Wanda of Spindale; grandson John Bland and wife Rachel of Spindale; granddaughter Jessie Bland of Spindale; and great granddaughters Madison and Jordan of Spindale; sister Aileen McClain of Asheville and brother James Bland and wife Gloria of Spindale; ten nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Kiser Bland. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Saturday, June 29 at Mount Vernon Baptist Church with Dr. Scott Courtney and Rev. Richard Bass officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mount Vernon Baptist Church, 2676 Hudlow Road, Forest City, NC 28043.
