Defoy Elbert Gossett, age 85, of Rutherfordton, died Monday at Willow Ridge. A native of Cowpens, SC, he was the son of the late Charlie and Ottie Stephens Gossett. He was a retired carpenter and a member of We Love You Ministries of Cowpens. Defoy was a Navy veteran, serving in WWII. Left to cherish his memory is his sister, Lorene Wilson and husband DJ of Cowpens, SC, and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Grace Campbell Gossett, brothers Nelson and Elmer Gossett and sister Thelma Guy. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Wednesday, December 21 at Crowe’s Mortuary with Rev. Terry Honeycutt officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.
