Dolly Barnes

Dolly Graham Barnes, age 93, of Spindale, passed away May 7 at Hospice House. Dolly was a native of Newberry, SC.; retired from Burlington Industries as an administrative assistant. Earlier she served as church secretary at Spindale UMC where she was a faithful member since 1950. Dolly was preceded in death by her husband William E. (Bill) Barnes and her parents Eddie O. and Floride Glymph Graham, two brothers and one sister. Left to cherish her memory are daughters Bonnie Counts (Benny), Patricia Kerr (Duncan), and Amy Barnes of Spindale; grandchildren Brantley Hodges (Daniel) and Christopher Counts (Carrie); great grandchildren Clark and Bennett Counts. Dolly taught her children many life lessons. "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all". Put God and family first. Put others before yourself. Be a kind and generous friend; be fiercely loyal to those you love. She lived her life that way. She will be missed by many who loved her. A celebration of Dolly's life will be held at Spindale UMC on Saturday June 19 at 11 am. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 prior to the service in the church fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills or to Spindale UMC. Crowe's Mortuary is assisting the Barnes family.
