Donald Gibbs

Donald “Don” Gibbs, 79, of Union Mills, NC went to his heavenly home on August 23, 2018. Donald loved the Lord and faithfully served him for 50 years. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side. Donald was an avid gardener. He was a member of Nealsville Church of God in Marion, NC. He retired from Broyhill after 36 years of service. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Pink and Odel Hudgins Gibbs, infant daughter Susie Gibbs and son Keith Gibbs, in addition to his four sisters and two brothers, one being his twin brother. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 57 years, Jean Epley Gibbs; sons Ronnie Gibbs and wife Teresa, and Curtis Gibbs and wife Tiffany; three grandchildren, Ronnie Gibbs Jr. and wife Christy, Brooke Gibbs and Steven, and Staley Gibbs; ten greatgrandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2PM Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Nealsville Church of God, 27 Bethel Church Road, Marion, NC with Rev. Travis Cooke and Rev. Doug Carpenter officiating. Mr. Gibbs will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment will follow at Gilkey Church of God, 181 Oak Springs Road, Rutherfordton, NC with Rev. Henry Montgomery officiating. The family will receive friends 4:00 until 6:00 PM Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Crowe’s Funeral Home, 118 College Avenue, Rutherfordton, NC. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Nealsville Church of God Building Fund, 27 Bethel Church Road, Marion, NC 28752 or Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.
