Rutherfordton, NC Mrs. Elizabeth Burpee Lee age 78 went home to be with The Lord on Saturday, July 14, 2018 while being cared for at Cleveland County Hospice. A native of Augusta, GA she is a daughter of the late Claude McKinley Burpee and Margaret Lucille McLeod Burpee. Elizabeth was a retired nurse anesthetist having worked at Rutherford Hospital and Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. She was a loving wife and mother who enjoyed time with her family, gardening and travel. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Eddie Lee, daughter Laura Lee Jolley and her husband Maxie Gene Jolley, II; daughter Michaele E. Lee Konefal and her husband John; grandchildren Maxie Gene Jolley, III, Ashlan Lee Jolley, Ellese Anne Johansen and fiancée James Murphy and Sydney Grace Johansen. She is also survived by one sister Barbara Burpee Forage and a number of other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by one brother Claude Burpee and one sister Rose Mary Selby. A celebration of Elizabeth’s life will be held 11 A.M. Friday, July 20, 2018 at Crowe’s Funeral Chapel 118 College Ave., Rutherfordton NC, 28139. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to your local hospice or to Alzheimer’s research.
