Mrs. Evelyn M. (Chapman) Wheeler, 83, of Spindale, NC died, December 28, 2012, at the home of her son in Spindale, after battling the effects of Alzheimer’s disease for several years.Evelyn was born in Leominster, MA on July 16, 1929, the eldest daughter of Ruth and Howard Chapman. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Robert E. Wheeler, brothers, George and David, and sister, Nancy. She was a loving, caring, and devoted mother to her family and would give her heart to help others. The things she enjoyed most were crocheting, sewing, and spending quality time with her whole family. She was really devoted to spending her time sharing Bible truths with others in the house to house preaching work as a member of the Forest City Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.Evelyn leaves behind three sons and two daughters, Wayne Wheeler and his wife, Cynthia of Spindale, NC, Cynthia Keach and her husband, Donald of Rutherfordton, NC Lawrence Wheeler and his wife, Ramona, of Umatilla, FL, Robert Wheeler and his wife, Jaylene, of Plant City, FL, and Sandra Russell and her husband, Kevin, of Leominster, MA. She also leaves nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 544 Burch Hutchins Road, Forest City, NC at 3:30 P.M. on Saturday, January 5, 2013 with Elder Matthew Flack presiding. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the World Wide Work of Jehovah’s Witnesses through the local congregation or to Hospice of Rutherford County, P.O. Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.
