Frances “Jinx” Carpenter, age 89, of Rutherfordton, died July 4, 2013 at her home while under Hospice care. A native of Fairmont, IN, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Elizabeth Yell Keesling. Frances was a retired letter carrier and a WWII US Marine veteran. She delivered Meals on Wheels and taught basket making at the Senior Center. In 2005 she was honored as the oldest female Marine in Rutherford County. She is survived by five sons, Forest Carpenter (Pamela), Bruce Carpenter (Donna), Scott Carpenter, Grady Paul Carpenter (Christine), Ward Carpenter (Lisa); two daughters, Molly Carpenter and Jami Ruppe (Dennis); eight grandchildren, Forest Carpenter Jr. (Kim), Caitlin Carpenter, Thaddeus Carpenter, Matthis Carpenter (Olga), Melissa Faye Carpenter, Philip Carpenter (Liz), Bruce Carpenter Jr. (Christina), Sister Bernadette; and eight great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, John Armand Carpenter and Joseph Mark Carpenter. No services are planned at this time.
