Gaynell Tipton Roper, 86, of Rutherfordton, ended her journey in life and went to be with the lord on January 13th, 2013. A native of Rutherford County, she was a graduate of RS Central High School. She was a long time member of Main Street Baptist Church in Spindale, where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the Choir. For many years, she was the manager of the Doncaster/Tanner Fabric Shop, and had a lifelong passion for sewing. She is survived by her daughter, Vicky Roper Beard and husband, Richard Beard of Rutherford; one granddaughter Maegan Beard, of Auburn, Alabama; a sister, Jean Carpenter, of Rutherfordton; and a large and devoted family that will continue to cherish her memory, and remember her strengths, her wit, and her compassion. She was preceded in death by her husband Woodrow Roper, her two brothers, Earl and Alvin Tipton, and one sister, Vearl Tipton Daniel. Funeral services will be held Tuesday January the 15th, at 12:00PM at Main Street Baptist Church with the Reverend Rick Brewer officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice, or to the Main Street Baptist Building Fund.
