Henry Leonard

William Henry Leonard age 86 passed away Tuesday January 11, 2011 at Rutherford Hospital. A native of Buncombe County he was the son of the late Edward Frank Leonard, Sr. and Maude Elliott Leonard. Henry was a veteran of the U.S. Merchant Marines, a member of Spindale United Methodist Church, former Scoutmaster and received his degree in pharmacology from the University of Maryland. Spindale Drug was a major part of Henry’s life. Having begun work there in the 1960’s he became co-owner in the 1970’s and retired in 2005. Left to cherish his memory is one sister Mary A. Leonard of Baltimore, MD and a number of other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Edward F. Leonard, Jr. who lost his life in the service of our country during World War Two. Funeral services will be held 3 PM Sunday January 16, 2011 at Spindale United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Pyatt and Rev. Joe Greene officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 – 3 PM Sunday in the fellowship hall of Spindale United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County POB 336 Forest City NC 28043.
