Irene Watson McMurry Irene McMurry, 96, of Rutherfordton, died Sunday, October 29, 2017 at her home. A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late William (Willie) Thomas Watson and Nannie Elizabeth Porter Watson. She was retired from Stonecutter Mills. She was the wife of the late Willie Leabron McMurry and the mother of 11 children. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Margie Younger, Nancy Greene, John McMurry, Ileen Evans, Rosalee Owens, James McMurry, Martha Sanford and Charles (Buster) McMurry. Mrs. McMurry was the grandmother to 16, great grandmother to 37, and great great grandmother to 29. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and children Walter and Stephen McMurry and Rachel M. Rhoads Lookadoo. Funeral services will be held 11AM Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Crowe’s Mortuary with Rev. Clyde Rollins officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Vernon Baptist Church.
