Ivern Simmons

Ivern Leroy “Pop” Simmons, age 75, of 569 Oak Springs Rd Rutherfordton passed away Sunday at Hospice House. Ivern was a native of Caldwell County, son of the late James Henry Simmons and Bessie Ida Greer Simmons, employed by Gilkey Service Center and widower of the late Cora Diane Simmons. Left to cherish his memory are his companion Elizabeth Glazebrook; children Diane (Ron) Brown of Ashkum, Ill, Penny (Greg) McCombs of Rutherfordton, Tracy Simmons of Gloucester, Va., Crystal (Michael) Killian of Lenoir, Terry Glazebrook of Rutherfordton; step son Rex Benfield of Lenoir; brother Greer (Faye) Simmons of Fayetteville, NC; sister Carolyn (Finnis) Vance of Hudson, NC; 9 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren. Services will be 2 PM Friday at Crowe’s Funeral Chapel with Rev. Charlie Melton. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday at Crowe’s Funeral Home. The family will be at the home of Chris Goins, 2563 Vein Mountain Road, Nebo, NC.
