Jack Walker

Jack Walker, age 85, of Forest City, died Sunday, May 4, 2014, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Crawley and Mamie Walker. Jack was a retired painter for the Rutherford County School system and was a member of First Wesleyan Church in Forest City. He enjoyed fishing and baseball, and especially enjoyed church softball. Jack is survived by two sons, Jimmy Walker and wife Dale of Forest City, Mike Walker and wife Joy of Forest City; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sister Pauline Gossett of Chesnee, SC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce May Hardin Walker and second wife Rose Lanier Walker. Funeral services will be held 3 PM Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at First Wesleyan Church with Rev. Tim Frazier and Rev. Eric Yelton officiating. Interment will follow in Eternal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The First Wesleyan Church Building Fund, 700 S. Church Street, Forest City, NC 28043.
