James Dalton

James Garland Dalton, age 69, of Rutherfordton, went to his Heavenly home March 19th, 2021. He was a native of Rutherford County and the son of the late Mamie Dalton and Jack Dalton of Lake Lure. He is preceded in death by his son Michael Todd Foster, two brothers Perry Dalton and Scott Dalton, paternal grandparents JB Davis and Georgia Davis, maternal grandparents Ray and Rachel Dalton. He was a very smart, hardworking, simple man. He had a degree in business management and held numerous jobs in plant manufacturing. As hobbies, he enjoyed working outside on various projects, he loved to be in the woods deer hunting and on the course playing golf. He was a member of Southern Baptist Church. He was the most loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Brenda Jackson Dalton; two daughters and their families, Ashleigh Dalton and Tina Foster Melton; two sisters and their families, Sandra Dalton Hughes and Gail Dalton Boone; four grandchildren, Aiden and Allyssa Dalton, Michael and Matthew Melton, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will hold a Memorial Service from 12pm-1pm Saturday March 27th at Southern Baptist Church with visitation to follow service. Pastor Peter Surran will officiate.
