James ”Jim” Hemphill, 91, of Elizabeth Ave. Forest City, NC passed away on Saturday November 19th, 2011. Jim was the owner and operator of Vassey and Hemphill Jewelry in Spindale, NC., a US Army Veteran of WW II, and a member of First Baptist Church Forest City. He was preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Dira Hemphill, and a daughter Donna Clement. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Virginia Hudgins Hemphill, daughter Susan Simpson of Asheville, and four grandchildren and one great grandchild. Services will be held at First Baptist Church of Forest City on Tuesday November the 22nd at 4:00PM, with the Dr. Barry Keys and Rev. Toney Spencer officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
