James St. Clair

James Leon St. Clair, 80, of Union Mills, passed away Thursday, January 1, 2015. Born August 11, 1934 in Rutherford County, he was preceded in death by his parents, Forest and Blanche Coffey St. Clair and a brother Lewis Melvin St. Clair. He was a graduate of Mt. Vernon High School and was a former employee of General Fireproofing and American Greetings Incorporated. He was a member of Round Hill Baptist Church, former deacon, and first fire chief of Union Mills. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Nanney St. Clair, brother, Charles Eddie St. Clair and wife Peggy, daughter Chiketa Collins and husband Rusty, son Brian St. Clair and wife Anna. Grandchildren are Greg Russell of Spindale, Jeremy Russell and wife Deanna of Rutherfordton, Gena Shelton and husband Ronald of Spindale, Chris St. Clair and wife Tess of Rutherfordton, and Aaron St. Clair of Boone, NC. There are 7 great grandchildren and his best friend, a Boston Terrier, named Mr. Pug. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 3, at Round Hill Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 and the service will be at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Round Hill Baptist Church on Hudlow Road in Union Mills, NC. Crowe’s Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
