Jessie Laughter

Jessie Leonard Laughter, 95, of Union Mills, died January 17 at Hospice House. A native of McDowell County, he was the son of the late F.R. and Pearl Searcy Laughter. He was a former sawmill owner operator and a member of Nealsville Church of God. He is survived by two daughters, Shirley Arrowood and husband Gaines of Rutherfordton, Dorothy Wright and husband Wilbur of Union Mills; son, Ralph Laughter and wife Mildred of Marion; brother Junior Laughter of Union Mills; sister Pauline Morgan of Marion; five grandchildren, Cindy Reel, Teresa Foster, Dwayne Wright, Darrell Wright, and Denny Laughter; seven great grandchildren, Kendra Guffey, Aaron Wright, Kaitlyn Wright, Lacey Wright, Karley Wright, Sophia Laughter, and Keaton Laughter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mafo Arrowood Laughter. Funeral services will be held 3 PM Friday, January 20 at Nealsville Church of God with Revs. Doug Carpenter, Darrell Wright and Dwayne Wright officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 PM until 8 PM at Crowe’s Mortuary.
