Willie Jewellyne "Julie" Edwards Babcock, 78, of Columbus, NC, died Tuesday, March 24th. Born in Galveston, TX, she was the daughter of Willie Ellen Wren and William Jewel Edwards. Julie enjoyed her career as an Eastern Airlines stewardess before becoming a receptionist at IBM in Poughkeepsie, NY where she met Kenneth Babcock, her husband of 53 years. After early family years spent in Putnam Valley, NY, raising their two daughters, they relocated to South Florida before retiring and moving to White Oak Mountain in Columbus, NC. Mrs. Babcock was a member of Holy Cross Episcopal Church and The Order of the Daughters of the King, Tryon, NC. Surviving is her husband, Kenneth Babcock; two daughters, Dr. Kendall Vitulli of Palm City, FL, and Dara Babcock of Columbus, NC.; grandchildren, Marisa Vitulli, Antonella Vitulli, Annalisa Vitulli, Alexander Babcock, and Conner Cantwell; and her beloved Aunt Frances Virginia Wren Anderton.
