John Mack Nixon 55, of Rutherfordton died on Monday March 16, 2009 at the Hospice House in Forest City. He was born on November 10, 1953 in San Antonio TX. He was the son of John and June Nixon. He was preceded in death by his father and a son John Rutherford Nixon. John was a member of Mtn. Creek Baptist Church and had worked as a paramedic for 20 years in Surry and Catawba Counties. He voluntered for Mtn. Park Volunteer Fire and Rescue for 16 years. He is survived by his wife Katherine W. Nixon of the home, Mother June L. Nixon of Pleasanton TX; Daughter Jayme N. Linton of Hickory NC; Granddaughter Anna L. Linton; Step children Clifton Higgins of Bayboro NC, Mills Higgins, Katy Higgins and Aaron Higgins of Rutherfordton. Sister Vickie Moore and niece Allison Wood of Pleasanton TX; Father and Mother In Law Jack and Margaret Woerner of Waverly TN. The visitation will be held on Saturday March 21, 2009 from 12-2 PM at Mtn. Creek Baptist Church with the funeral service following in the church at 2 PM. Rev. Matthew Thomas will officiate. Graveside services will be conducted on Sunday March 22, 2009 at Union Hill Cemetery at 2 PM with the Rev. John Attaway officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County POB 336 Forest City NC 28043 or to Mtn. Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund 710 Mountian Creek Road Rutherfordton NC 28139.
