Johnnie Conner

Johnnie Sue Atchley Conner, 94 of Spindale died Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at Oakland Living Center. She was a native of Rutherford County and the daughter of the late Robert Logan Atchley and Pannie Effie Freeman Atchley. Johnnie was a graduate of Mt. Vernon High School and a member of Spencer Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Left to cherish her memory is son, Harold Dean Conner and wife Eva Lou Melton Conner of Forest City; daughter, Brenda Kay Conner Hodge and husband David of Spindale; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; brother, Charles Atchley of Bostic; sister, Geneva Wilson of Forest City. In addition to her parents, Johnnie was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin L. Conner in 1990, son Robert Stephen “Steve” Conner in 2012, brothers, Glenn & Ray Atchley and sisters, Mary Kimbrell and Lennie Jones. Funeral services will be held 11AM Friday, January 10, 2020 at Spencer Baptist Church, 187 N. Oak Street, Spindale, NC with Rev. Bruce Caldwell & Rev. Tim Hodge officiating. Interment will follow in Eternal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7PM Thursday, January 9, 2020 at Crowe’s Mortuary, 118 College Avenue, Rutherfordton, NC The family would like to thank the staff of Oakland Living Center for the kindness shown to the Conner family.
