Lee Bumgardner
Lee R. Bumgardner, son of Lee F. and Ellen Bumgardner, was born May 24, 1926, and was a 1943 graduate of Casar High School. In 1951, he started his 33 year career with Southern Bell Telephone Co. in Spindale, NC. During his career with Southern Bell he volunteered in several states for hurricane relief. Work moved him to Charlotte, NC in 1966 where he retired in 1984. His generosity touched many lives. He was a very devoted and loving Christian, husband, father and friend, always willing to go the extra mile to help someone in need. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Ruth Brittain Bumgardner, two sons and a daughter, Harvey Bumgardner, Myra Walker, and Charles Bumgardner, and five grandchildren, Gary and Liz Bumgardner, Matthew and Madison Walker, and Christopher Bumgardner. He is also survived by his sister, Daphine Canipe. He was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Owen Bumgardner. Services will be held Saturday, August 13, 2011, at Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM with the memorial service to follow.
