Leroy Sims

Leroy Sims, 90, of Rutherfordton, died Monday, August 29, 2016 at White Oak Manor. A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Harvey Lee and Bessie Camilla Connor Sims. He was a retired loom fixer and a member of Riverside Baptist Church. Leroy is survived by his wife, Shirley Scruggs Sims of the home; stepdaughter Barbara Ann Blackwell of Rutherfordton; grandchildren Melinda Dallas, Gene Blackwell and Tina Lail (John); greatgrandchildren, Ryan Gilmer, Carrie Blackwell, Warren Blackwell, Cameron Howell, Savannah Lail; great greatgrandchildren, Maddox Gilmer and Aaron Blackwell; sisters, Martha Jean Snyder of Rutherfordton and Isa Moxley of Hickory. A special thanks to nephew James Fincannon for taking care of the farm during Mr. Sims’ illness. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Gertie Sims and son, Hazel Sims. Funeral services will be held 3PM, Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Crowe’s Mortuary with Rev. Ted Blankenship officiating. Interment will follow in Eternal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
