<p>Rutherfordton, NC</p><p>Lester Earl Dowdle, Jr. age 85 passed away Tuesday December 29, 2015 while being cared for at Hospice House. Lester was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a former employee of Broyhill Furniture Company.</p><p>He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Bell Dowdle, parents Lester Earl Dowdle, Sr. & Ethel Arrowood Dowdle, one sister Juanita Nanney, two brothers Earl & Robby Dowdle and one grandson Jason Dowdle.</p><p>Left to cherish his memory are two sons – Roger Bell and Kenneth Dowdle; one daughter Robin Parton; five grandchildren – Christa Richardson, Lindsay Jones, Rainy Edmonson, William Edmonson and Petty Officer 2nd Class (USN) Robert P. Dowdle; fourteen great grandchildren; three brothers Johnny Dowdle, Raymond Dowdle and Tommy Dowdle; one sister Bertha Dowdle; a number of other family members and friends. </p><p>Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday January 1, 2015 at Crowe’s Funeral Chapel with Rev. Allen Marsh officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.</p><p>In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Rutherford County Hospice P.O.
