Lonnie “Jerry” Washburn , 74, of Rutherfordton, passed away on Friday December 10, 2010 at the Rutherford County Hospice. He was a retired lawn maintenance worker. He is preceded in death by his parents Esro and Annie Mae Washburn, two brothers Charles, and Mackalee Washburn. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Grace Washburn, son Emmett Murray, daughter Emma Corpening, daughter Barbara Washburn, son Jerry Lee Washburn, sister Catherine Twitty of Ohio, and brother Jasper Washburn also of Ohio. Nine grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at New Salem CME on Thursday December 16, 2010 at 2:00PM with Rev. Arrie Melvin officiating. Receiving of friends will follow in the Church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to New Salem CME church, in care of Rev. Arrie Melvin 101 Chesterfield Rd.
