Marion Nanney

Marion Albert “Jack” Nanney, 86, of Union Mills, was welcomed home Saturday, July 11, 2020. The service, with military honors, will be held at Round Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Thursday, July 16th at 10 a.m. Those attending are asked to wear masks and observe social distancing. Jack was preceded in death by his parents Walter Dewey and Fannie Koon Nanney, his sister Louise Crowe, brother, Alvin Nanney, grandson Chase McKinney, and granddaughter Brittany Nanney. He is survived by his wife Barbara Searcy Nanney; five daughters Jackie & Randy Wallace, Natalie & Leonard Archer, Kaye & Mark McKinney, Stacey Moulin, and Merri Nanney; eleven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one brother Hugh Nanney (Colene), two sisters Nadine Rippey and Annette Shehan. Jack served his country in the U.S. Navy. He also advocated for his fellow servicemen by encouraging family members of POW/MIA’s to submit DNA, so that the remains of these veterans can be identified and returned home to their families. His legacy as a father included formal adoptions and mentoring of young people. He encouraged them to love God, love their country, serve their church and community, and nurture their families with the love, understanding, and guidance that he personally embodied throughout his life.
