Mrs. Martha Gertrude Mathis age 72 of Eastwood Street died Sunday February 28, 2016 while at Hospice House of Forest City, NC. A native of Rutherford County she was a former employee of Regtrol, a member of Piney Knob Baptist Church and a daughter of the late Everett Haynes and Molie Arrowood Haynes. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband John Henry Wishon, her second husband David Mathis and one son Travis Wishon. She is survived by one daughter Kay Yancey and husband Bobby of Forest City, NC; one stepson Kenneth Mathis of Ellenboro, NC; two sisters Grace Lane of Rutherfordton, NC and Sarah Ruth Spence of Union Mills, NC. Martha is also survived by eleven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, two nieces and one nephew. A memorial service will be held 4 PM Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Crowe’s Funeral Chapel with Rev. Rick Wall and Rev. Jerry Campbell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service. Martha will be laid to rest in Piney Knob Baptist Church Cemetery.
