Mildred E. Hart (Middleton) went home to be with the Lord on November 22, 2012 after a long and full life. Born in Union Mills, NC on February 23, 1922, the youngest of six children, she moved to Wake Forest in 1935. Here she met her future husband Charles A. Hart. She graduated magna cum laude from Wake Forest in 1942 with a BA in English. The same year she moved to Washington DC to work in the Navy Department, marrying Charles that October. After the war they remained in Northern Virginia where they raised three children: Carolyn, Maxine and Brian. In 1978 they retired to Hendersonville, NC, where they shared a home with Charles’ brother HL and Mildred’s sister Maxine and spent much of the next two decades traveling the US by Airstream. In 2003 they moved to Asheville where Charles died in 2006. Mildred continued to live with her son until her death at home. She is survived by Carolyn and Brian. A memorial service will be held at Round Hill on Saturday November 24th at 3:30pm with Rev. Steve Harris officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
