Penny Lowder, 89, of Rutherfordton, N. C., passed away January 15, 2013 at Hospice of Rutherford County. She is survived by her daughter, Sandy Chambers and husband David of Rutherfordton, N.C., son, William “Sonny” Lowder and wife Pat of Albemarle, N. C. and daughter, Debbie Mauch of Phenix City, Alabama. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She was a loving mother and devoted grandmother and great-grandmother. As a charter member of the Rutherford Quilt Guild she enjoyed her last few years attending meetings and quilting. In lieu of flowers the family would like memorial contributions made to Rutherford Quilt Guild Inc., c/o Deanne Johnson – President, 171 Wilson Court, Lake Lure, N. C. 28746. The family will receive family and friends on Saturday January 19, 2013 at the home of Sandy & David Chambers (3074 Polk County Line Rd., Rutherfordton, N. C. 28139) from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. for a celebration of her life.
