Orus Reid Coffield

Spartanburg, SC Orus Reid Coffield, Jr. Orus Reid Coffield, Jr., 93 passed away on March 5th at Hospice House in Landrum, SC. He had been ill for several years. A native of Rutherford County, he was a son of the late O.R. Sr and Ada May Martin Coffield. He was a banker by trade, retiring in 1979 after 30 years of service with Northwestern Bank. Mr. Coffield was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Ann Stewart Coffield of the home; daughter, Harriett Stewart, with whom he had made his home for the last five years; two sons, Orus Reid Coffield III of Columbia, Missouri and William (Bill) Coffield of Boiling Springs, SC; five grandchildren, four great-grand children, and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Carson Coffield, both of Florida, and a half sister, Mildred Coffield Blanton of Forest City. A memorial service will be held at Hopewell United Methodist Church, Hollis Road, Ellenboro, NC on Wednesday, March 9th at 1 PM with the Rev. Ed Lee, former pastor officiating. O. R was a member of Hopewell Church. The family will receive friends in the church social hall immediately after the service. Memorials may be made to the Hopewell Church Cemetery Fund c/ Neil Danner, 297 Poole Rd. Ellenboro or to Alzheimer’s Association, SC Chapter, Spartanburg Branch 901 South Pine St., Spartanburg, S.C. 29302. Online condolences may be made at www.crowemortuary.com.
