Roy Sutton

Roy Sutton age 90 of 1421 Ball Park Road died Wednesday April the 17th 2013 at Willow Ridge. He was a native of Cherokee County, a retired textile worker, and a WWII Army Veteran. While in the Army he was awarded two Bronze Service Stars, a Good Conduct medal, a Bronze Star medal, and a World War 2 Victory Medal. Roy was the son of the late John Foster Sutton and Vernie Green Epley. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Patricia Ann Yelton Sutton, daughter Norma Green, and one grandson Christopher Sutton. Left to cherish his memory are his nine children, Steve (Ellen) Sutton of Kentucky, Alice (Bruce) Ballard of Statesville, Patricia (Joey) Smith of Forest City, Karen (Clay) Kearns of Rutherfordton, Teresa Sutton of Spindale, Joy (Bobby) Wood of Kings Mountain, Connie (Don) Crapps of Spartanburg, Lynn Sutton of Spindale, Brian Sutton of Spindale; seventeen grandchildren; Bridget (Roy) Fonseca of Statesville, Chad Filer of Charlotte, Scott Green of Rutherfordton, Sherrie (Stacy) Beam of Lake Lure, April (John) Haynes of Union Mills, Alicia Ballard of Statesville, Brittney Bradshaw of Charlotte, Jordan Cody of San Diego, Brooke Hodge of Spindale, Layne Sutton of Kentucky, Andrea Sutton of Kentucky, Alex Godlock of Spindale, Kayla Kearns of Rutherfordton, Karsyn Kearns of Rutherfordton, Kale Wood of Kings Mountain, Drew Wood of Kings Mountain, Jacqueline Crapps of Spartanburg; eleven great grandchildren; Sydney Sutton of Kentucky, Marc Fonseca of Statesville, Max Fonseca of Statesville, Peyton Ballard of Statesville, Nathan Filer of Charlotte, Carmen Jones of Union Mills, Paisley Haynes of Union Mills, Karringtyn Haynes of Union Mills, Marcus Green of Rutherfordton, Chloe Green of Rutherfordton, and Noah Foster of Charlotte. Two great great grandchildren Caleb and Elijah Green of Rutherfordton. Sister Louise Sutton Hite of Falls Church, VA. A memorial service will be held at Main Street Baptist Church on Saturday April 20th, 2013 at 3:00PM. The family will receive friends from 2-3:00PM before the service.
