Sam Henry Spencer, 71, of Harris, died Monday, November 3, 2014 at Hospice House. A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Robert Vernon and Gladys Harris Spencer. He was a member of Broad River Baptist Church and retired with 30 years of service from John H. Montgomery and 10 years at Walmart. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Barbara Anderson Spencer of the home; sons Samuel Shawn Spencer (Martina) of Forest City and Shannon Lee Spencer (Kathy) of Rutherfordton; stepson Gary Ray Tharp of Harris; two grandchildren Austin and Hunter Spencer of Forest City, and a number of step grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother Leo Spencer and sister Lucille Spencer. Services will be private for the family.
