Shirley Ivey Ebert, age 53 of Rutherfordton, died Monday, July 30 at Mission Hospital. A native of Portsmouth, VA, she was the daughter of the late Alonzo and Norma Bain Ivey. She was a custodian at Forest City-Dunbar Elementary School. Shirley was a member of the Cpl. Christopher S. Ebert Marine Corp League . Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Brian David Ebert of Forest City and Roger Anthony Kaid of Rutherfordton; two sisters, Elizabeth Pletts of Forest City and Susan Eddins of Forest City; brother James Ivey of Forest City and four grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Cpl. Christopher S. Ebert, and sister Barbara Schaefer and brother Stephen Ivey. Funeral services will be held 9 AM Saturday, August 4 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Philbeck officiating. Interment will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, Aug 3 at Crowe’s Mortuary from 6 until 8 PM.
