Shirley Gross Shirley Jean Jones Gross, 81, of Forest City, died Tuesday, December 21 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. She was a daughter of the late Jake and Mollie Hixon Jones. She was a native of Harvey, Illinois, a member of Smith Grove Baptist Church, VFW Auxiliary Post 1771 and previous owner of Country Meadows Rest Home. She is survived by two sons, Eddie Yelton of Rutherfordton and Donnie Yelton of Forest City; two daughters, Lucille Mauck of Forest City and Linda Guffey of Forest City; twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Gross and daughter Louise Parks Price. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 23 at 2:00 PM at Crowe’s Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bob Philbeck officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in the Smith Grove Baptist Church cemetery.Obituary
