Susan Gilbert

Mrs. Susan Placak Gilbert age 59 passed away Wednesday October 1, 2014 at her home. A native of Cleveland Ohio, Susan was a graduate of Texas A & M, Gardner-Webb University and Appalachian State University. She was retired from the Rutherford County School System having taught for some 30 years at Bostic and Sunshine area schools. Following retirement Susan taught in the adult education program at Isothermal Community College. She enjoyed beadwork and was an avid reader volunteering her time at Rutherfordton Library. Susan was very devoted to her students as well as her family and friends. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Michael Gilbert, two step daughters Amy Beheler and Jana Gilbert, two sisters Kathryn Placak Martin and husband Robert, Joanne Shebert and husband Leonard, one brother Robert Lawrence Placak, Jr. and wife Nikki, niece Jennifer Clair Prentice and a number of other relatives and friends. Susan was preceded in death by her parents Robert Lawrence Placak, Sr. and Eleanor Tischer Placak. A celebration of life will be held from 2 PM until 4 PM Saturday October 11, 2014 at Crowe’s Mortuary. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County P.O.
