Sylvia Johnson

Sylvia Gail Fincannon Johnson, 49, of Rutherfordton, died Wednesday, October 21, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. A native of Rutherford County, she was a daughter of the late Charles Andrew and Rosa Lee Burgin Fincannon. She was a member of Gilkey United Methodist Church and taught business at RS Central High School. She was a graduate of Limestone College and Appalachian State University. She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Rusty Johnson of the home; one son, Michael Johnson of the home; one daughter, Mallory Johnson of the home; one brother, Ralph Fincannon of Spindale; and three sisters, Judy Cope of Union Mills, Linda Thomas of Rutherfordton, and LouAnn McDaniel of Rutherfordton. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Oct. 24 at 2 PM at Gilkey United Methodist Church. Rev. Allan Marsh, Rev. Rick Brewer, and Dr. Hampton Casebolt will officiate. Visitation will be held Friday, October 23 from 5 until 8 PM at Crowe’s Mortuary. Memorials may be made to Gilkey United Methodist Church, 187 Gilkey School Road, Rutherfordton, NC 28139
