Violet Ann Ward Blankenship Dowdle, age 83, of Union Mills passed away Tuesday at Fair Haven Home Forest City. Violet was a native of Rutherford County, a member of Round Hill Baptist Church, and enjoyed working in child care for most of her career. Preceding her in death are her parents Grover and Beatrice Boon Ward; husbands Curt Blankenship and Earl Dowdle; sister Sarah Allen and brothers K.B and Morris Ward. She leaves to cherish her memory daughters Freda (Steve) Greene and Rita (Gary) Blankenship Conner both of Union Mills; granddaughter Stephany Greene; daughters by choice Kay (Harry) Deyton, Linda (Jamie) Conner and Patsy (Verno) Arrowood. A service to celebrate the life of Violet Blankenship Dowdle will be held at 2 PM Thursday at Crowe’s Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Michael Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Round Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM prior to the service. A special thanks to the staff of Fair Haven Home for the love and care shown to our family during this time.
