Wilda Waters Matheny, 87, of Spindale, died Thursday, April 30 at White Oak Manor. A native of Cherokee County, she was a daughter of the late William Henry and Mattie Bland Waters. She was retired textile secretary and a member of Spencer Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Twitty Matheny and son William Jonathan Matheny She is survived by one daughter, Jane Moore and husband Joel of Cliffside, grandchildren John Moore and wife Stephanie of Rutherfordton, Elisabeth Moore and Melissa Moore of Charlotte. Memorial services will be held Sunday, May 3 at 2:30 pm at Spencer Baptist Church with Rev. Billy E. Vaughn and Rev. Bruce Caldwell officiating.
