Arthur Campbell Obituary

Mr. Arthur Lee Campbell, affectionately known as “Lee”, was born in Iredell County on June 30, 1939 and was the son of the late John and Essie Ruth Ellis Campbell. He departed this life on Friday, March 6, 2015, at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro, N. C. following an extended illness. He attended Unity High School and Insight Outreach Church in Troutman. His hobbies include motorcycle riding, working, cooking, watching boxing, traveling and he loved animals. He was employed by J. C. Penney Distribution Center. He was twice married, first to Margaret Stovall Campbell and second to the late Emma Jean Davidson Campbell. He was preceded in death by a son, Xavier Campbell, one sister, Alice Tucker, and five brothers, James Richard Campbell, Elizah Campbell, Henry Campbell, June McMillian and Raymond Campbell. Left to remember his life are three sons, Darrell Lee Campbell of Statesville, Autha Lee Junior Graham and James Marvin Thompson, both of Troutman; a daughter, Jeanne (Mickey) Simms of Statesville; a brother, Ronald (Wilma) Campbell of Statesville; six sisters, Annie (Eddie) Torrence of Statesville, Margaret Jones of Bronx, New York, Pastor Evelyn (Pastor James) Hamilton, Sr., Mary (Walter) McKellar, and Janice (Rev. Roger) Powell, all of Statesville and Gloria (Frank) Linney of Fayetteville; two aunts, Pocahontas (Edward) Taylor of Phoenix, AZ and Maxine (David) Cobb of Greensboro; a special cousin, Walter Ellis; thirteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
