Mr. Camery Deon Barber, 28, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2019, unexpectedly. 2-Ka, as he was affectionately called, was born in Iredell County, N. C. on August 21, 1990, and was the son of Alexis and Darlene Sturghill Barber.

He was a 2009 graduate of Statesville High School and also attended Mitchell Community College. At the time of his death, he was employed as a machine operator and was a former employee of Apple Bee’s Restaurant.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph and Dora D. Sturghill and Eloise Daniels, Atchley Smith and Hugh E. Barber, an aunt, Ilene R. Mott; and a cousin, David O’Brian Barber.

Left to celebrate and remember the blessing of his life are his parents, Alexis and Darlene Sturghill Barber of the home; three sons, Jaylyn Campbell, Brayden Camery Barber and Kiron Dewey, all of Statesville; one daughter, Aubrey Pineda of Statesville; his siblings, Dorian Barber and Alexis Cha’nel Barber, both of Statesville, and Sharonda Bailey of Charlotte; his godson and nephew, Chandler Brice Barber of the home; his grandmother, Willie Gean Barber of Statesville; his family cat, Pepper J. Barber of the home; special cousin including Jermaine Heggs; his aunts and uncles, David Barber, Neese Barber, Mark Barber, Tina Mitchell, Elder Christopher (Sharon) Daniels, Janet Lackey Harris, Van Lackey, and Pearl Daniel, all of Statesville and Dennis Lackey of Charlotte; and a host of great aunts, great uncles, cousins, best friends, Elaine, CJ, Paxton and Jordan; other relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Sunday, July 28, 2019, at 4:00 p.m. at New Life Missionary Baptist Church in Troutman, N. C. Reverend Ivan Cowan is pastor, Dr. Lonnie E. Gray will officiate and Elder Christopher Daniels will eulogize. Mr. Barber will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Mortuary until taken to the church to lie in state at 2:30 p.m. Members of the family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., but will assemble at the residence, 2610 Andes Drive, Statesville, at other times. A private burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery. General Public Viewing will be held on Saturday at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
