Camilla Dye Scott Obituary

1 Thessalonians 4:14 " For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him"

A smile for all, a heart of gold, one of the finest this world could hold

Never selfish, always kind, these are memories she lives behind…

Mrs. Camilla Dye Scott, beloved daughter of the late George and Dosey Pullman Dye, was born in Iredell County on March 23, 1925. She departed this life peacefully at her home surrounded by family on Tuesday, January 21, 2020.

She was a graduate of Unity High School and was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board, Senior Choir, as a Missionary and on the Culinary Ministry. She was also involved in community activities including the Garden Club, and the 55 and Alive Club at Bentley Center. She also attended the Elder Center until her health declined.

She was united in marriage to Dewitt School, who preceded her in death. Three sons, Johnny Scott, Beverly Scott and Franklin Dewitt Scott, also preceded her in death.

She leaves to remember and cherish the blessing of her life, her son, Dennis Scott of the home; her friend and special caregiver, Davikie Jackson; a special daughter, Mary Walker of Troutman; a sister-in-law, Mary Morrison of Baltimore, MD; a host of nieces and nephews including Betty Jean Millsaps, Denise Walker McCoy and Bonita Sigmon; special friends including Ruth Lackey and Frances Wilkins; cousins, the St. Joseph Baptist Church Family, The 55 and Alive Club, other relatives, neighbors and friends.

In tears we saw you sinking,

And watched you fade away

Our hearts were almost broken,

Because we wanted you to stay

But when we saw you sleeping

So peacefully and free from pain

How could we wish you back with us

To suffer that again.

It breaks our hearts to lose you

But you did not go along

For part of us went with you

The day God called you home.

Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Sunday, January 26, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Baptist Church in Statesville.
