Carl Hargrave Obituary

Mr. Carl Mitchell Hargrave, 56, was born in Iredell County on December 30, 1962, and was the son of the late Annie Louise Hargrave and Cleo Carruth. He was reared by Rose Bellamy, who preceded him in death. He departed this life at his home on Monday, September 30, 2019. He was a 1983 graduate of Statesville High School and was employed by the City of Statesville with the Parks and Recreation Department for over thirty years for the City of Statesville. At one time he was also employed by JR’s and Habitat of Humanity. The Mayor, as he was affectionately called, was a “taxi” and had many riders. He was an uber driver before uber became known. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Betty Bowman and two brothers, William Bellamy and Peaches Hargrave. He leaves to cherish and remember the blessing of his life, his lifelong companion, Margie “Cooter” Camp of the home; three children, Danny Camp of Shelby, John (Tosura Mayfield) Camp and Michael Lee (Chasity) Camp, both of Statesville; grandchildren, Dominic Camp of the home, Dillion Camp, Dallas Camp, Jon Tyler Camp, Jashawn Camp, Kyrniah Nichols, Dayla Camp, Jayden Martin and Dartavius Camp; one great grandchild, Messiah Martin; his siblings, Jason Saterfield of Georgia, Gloria Ann (Gary Turner) Rankin, Sandra Bellamy and Virginia (James) Dobbins, all of Statesville; his aunts, Martha Ann Rucker, uncles, Bobby (Linda) Bellamy and Fred (Mary) Bellamy of Pennsylvania; a special cousin, Virginia Baker; his dog, Choochoo; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. It seems so unreal that you are gone, When just the other day, You walked and talked and laughed with us Then suddenly slipped away Your peaceful smile, your joyful laugh How sweet the memory still The parting left an aching void This world could never fill. Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Saturday, October 5, 2019, at 1:30 p.m. at The Mary B, Bigham Memorial Chapel. Dr. Daniel Horton will officiate and burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery. Members of the family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m., but will assemble at the residence at other times.
