A smile for all, a heart of gold, one of the finest this world could hold; Never selfish, always kind, these are the memories she leaves behind… Mrs. Carolyn Elaine Stevenson Steele, 61, was born in Calhoun County, Michigan on August 16, 1957, and was the daughter of the late Daniel and Juanita Fowler Stevenson. She passed away at her home surrounded by family on Thursday, June 27, 2019, following an extended illness. She received her certification as a MED Tech and CNA. She was a member of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church and was employed by RHA as a housing assistant. She enjoyed cooking, singing and caring for others. She was a loving, devoted and unselfish wife, mother, grandmother, sister, auntie and friend who loved everyone. Her love for others was unconditional. She was married to Jimmy R. Steele, who survives. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Aletha Torrence and Daniel Stevenson. She leaves to cherish the memory of her life, her loving husband, Jimmy R. Steele of the home; five children, Jimmy (Crystal) Steele of Harmony, Jamie (Alisha) Steele and Jarome (Lakeya) Steele, both of Statesville, Janice L. Steele of Olin and Josh L. Steele of East Providence, RI; thirteen grandchildren, Lakeisha Gillespie, Keyrra Gillespie, Justin Steele, Justice Steele, J’Shaun Steele, Kameron Steele, Jalana Steele, Kalise Steele, Caleb Reep, Kaliya Hester, Antonio Jarome Steele and Madison McDonald; five great grandchildren, Kamdon Gillespie, Ke’Andrey McKee, KeMauri McKee, Kaniya Gillespie and Jeziryah Elaine Steele; one brother, Raymond E. Stevenson of Atlanta, Georgia; five sisters, LaRose (James) Redmond, Vivian S. (Larry) Holland, Dorothy A. Holland, and Sharon Crowder of Atlanta, Georgia and Mary F. (Alvin) White of Hertford, N.C.; four brothers-in-law, Clarence Steele, Dallas (Irene) Steele, John (Dorothy) Steele and Charles Steele, all of Harmony; three sisters-in-law, Martha Allison of Statesville, Janet Steele of Harmony and Ruby Lucas of Washington, DC; an honorary daughter and devoted niece, Joetta A. Bines; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and honorary friends including Yvonne Sheldon and Gwen Roseboro, Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at 12:00 noon at The Mary B. Bigham Memorial Chapel of Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home. Apostle Jerome Temoney will officiate and Reverend Ardeal Roseboro will deliver the eulogy. Memories of the family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon, but will assemble at the residence at other times.
