Obituary

Ms. Daphne Lucille Peet, beloved daughter of the late Walker Robert Peet and Mildred Viola Turner Peet, was born in Iredell County on April 29, 1958. She peacefully entered into eternal rest, surrounded by family, on Tuesday, August 4, 2016, following an extended illness.

Affectionately called Ceil, she attended North Iredell High School and prior to her illness, she was employed by Statesville Auto Action and Bassett Furniture Company. She was also employed by Rental Uniform. Before her illness, she loved to fish and garden. She was also a big 49ers fan and loved helping people.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Richard Peet, Robert Peet, Johnny Turner and Wade Peet, and a niece, Mildred Peet.

She leaves to remember her life, her daughter, Carrie (Eric) Sherrill of the home; two sons, Jeffery Peet and Gary Peet, both of Statesville; two brothers, Douglas Peet and Walker “June” (Diedra) Peet, both of Statesville; five sisters, Estella (Johnny) Dalton of Harmony, Judy Parks, Reatha Peet, Darcy Peet and Della Peet, all of Statesville; five grandchildren, Tevin (Kala Holder) Sherrill of Hickory, Monae Sherrill, Eric Sherrill and Sentierra Corry, all of Statesville and Jasmine Peet of Charlotte; one great grandchild, Kaydence Sherrill; aunts, Mary Lee Murdock Lazenby, Joann McClelland, Lillie Turner and Odessa Turner; a special niece, Michelle Peet of Statesville; several friends, Bo Johnson, Jamar Mack, Kay Dobbins, and Terry Alphonzo Davis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

WHEN TOMORROW STARTS WITHOUT ME

When tomorrow starts without me, and I'm not there to see,

If the sun should rise and find your eyes all filled with tears for me;

I wish so much you wouldn't cry the way you did today,

While thinking of the many things, we didn't get to say.

I know how much you love me, as much as I love you,

And each time that you think of me, I know you'll miss me too;

So when tomorrow starts without me, don't think we're far apart,

For every time you think of me, I'm right here, in your heart.
