Ethel Murphy

Ms. Ethel Mae Murphy was born in Bladen County on July 20, 1937, and was the daughter of the late Alonzo and Laura Small Murphy. She departed this life on Thursday, May 21, 2015, at the Presbyterian Medical Center, following an extended illness. She moved to New York City in May of 1957, and was one of seven children, William, Catherine, Leamon, Allen, Wilbur and Charles. She was the mother of three children, Anthony, Sharon and Stephanie. She learned the Truth in the early 1970's and was baptized on January 27, 1974 in Monroe, New York. She was a pioneer for ten plus years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, William, Catherine, Leamon, Wilbur and Charles, and a daughter, Sharon. She leaves to cherish the memory of her life a son and his wife, Anthony (Joyce) Green of Durham; a daughter, Stephanie McAnuff of Davidson with whom she made her home; a brother, Allen Murphy of Bladen County; five grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew, Marc, Breanalyn and Anthony, Jr.; four great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, neighbors and dear friends. Celebration of Life Services will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2015, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on Taylor Road, Bronx, New York.
