Mr. James Woodrow Rankin, Jr., 64, of 423 Central Drive, departed this life, Thursday, September 17, 2015, at the Gordon Hospice House. He was the son, of the late James Jake Rankin, Sr. and Pearlie Mae Tucker Rankin, and was born in Iredell County, September 5, 1951. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Freddie Buck Rankin and T. Robert Torrence; four sisters, Callie Rorie, Ada Rankin, Linnie Rankin Everhart, and Mamie Rankin. He was married to Gloria Ann Bellamy Rankin of Statesville. James attended the Iredell County School System and at the time of his death was disabled. Survivors include, his lifetime companion and caregiver, Patsy Ann Johnson of the home; seven sons, James (Pedra) Bellamy, Franklin (Alisa) Bellamy, Fredrick Rankin, Michael “Woody” (Juaneque Beckett) Johnson, Derrick P. Johnson, Patrick A. Johnson and Eric E. Johnson; one daughter, Latitia Ann Rankin; twenty-one grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, neighbors and dear friends. Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Wednesday, September 23, 2015, 3:00 p.m. at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. Members of the family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-3 p.m., but will assemble at the residence at other times.
