The Family Tribute Sister Janette Smith Borum And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. Revelation 21:4 Sister Janette Smith Borum, 66, of 1805 Bristol Road passed away peacefully at Brian Center on April 18, 2015 following extended illness. She was born in Washington D.C, March 3, 1949 and was the daughter of Mary Irene Smallwood Smith and the late Charles Elwood Smith. Sister Borum graduated from Eastern High School in Washington D.C., and attended Mitchell Community College where she received her Associates Degree in Criminal Justice. She was a member of The Church of the Living God where she served as an Usher and treasurer of the Usher Board. She attended service until her health started declining. She served faithfully and was willing to help whenever and wherever she was able to use her hands for the work of the Lord. Left to cherish loving memories include her husband, Jerome Borum of the home; her mother, Mary Irene Smith of Washington, DC; three daughters, Stephanie Yvette (Ramone Speller) Borum, Sabrina Tiffany Borum and Sonya Dione (Kevin) Stover, all of Statesville; three sisters, Carolyn Eloise Smith, of Suitland, Maryland, Gail Aline (Kevin) Alexander of Clinton, Maryland and Stephanie Muriel Smith of Seat Pleasant, Maryland; six grandchildren, Keruan Dominique Borum, Kalyle Devonte Houser, Donavan Maurice Borum, Diondre Montell Borum, Jordan Laurice Borum, and Kevin Michael Stover, Jr.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, church family and dear friends. Servant of God, well done! Rest from thy loved employ! The battle fought, the victory won, Enter thy Master's joy. Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. in the Mary B. Bigham Memorial Chapel of Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home. Bishop Brian Caines and Minister Tony Eccles will officiate with burial following in the Belmont Cemetery. Members of the family received friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., at the funeral home but will assemble at the residence of her daughter, Sabrina Borun, 623 Salisbury Road, Statesville, at other times.
