Mrs. Lessie Mae Woods Tucker And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. Revelation 21:4 Mrs. Lessie Mae Woods Tucker was born in Iredell County on January 12, 1930, and was the daughter of the late J. P. Lackey and Virginia Morrison Lackey Woods. She departed this life at her home on Wednesday, September 30, 2015, following an extended illness. She attended the Iredell County Schools and was a member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board and the Nurses Aid. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Flake Tucker, Sr., a daughter, Lessie McIntosh, a son, Flake Tucker, Jr., a grandson, Anthony McIntosh and her twin brother, Lester Woods. She leaves to cherish the memory of her life three grandchildren, Litisha (Christopher) Roberts of Goldsboro, Anya Sharpe of Statesville and Lakisha McMillian of the home; a step-daughter, Betty Cowan of Salisbury; a godson, James Hyde of Statesville; seven great grandchildren, Masiyah McMillian, Zaniyah McMillian, Antonio Stokes, Deonte Allison, Christopher Roberts, Jr., Tayshaun Roberts and Tobias Roberts; three step-grandchildren, Linda Cowan, Cleodis Cowan and Curtis Cowan, all of Salisbury; a brother, Conway Lackey of Salisbury; two sisters, Mae Faye Woods and Aquilla Freeman, both of Statesville; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Lackey of Statesville; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, neighbors and friends.
